meet MO your neighborhood resource!

MO is the evolution of two pioneering efforts — Get Women Cycling (GWC) and Loca_MO — united by a shared mission to transform how we move through our cities. Built on years of advocacy, education, and community engagement, MO brings together a diverse network of mobility experts, organizers, and everyday people navigating the streets.

We believe that everyone — from children to older adults, whether walking, biking, driving, or delivering — deserves access to safe, equitable, and reliable ways to get where they need to go.

At the heart of our work is the fight for vehicle parity — the idea that all modes of transportation should be treated fairly in how our streets are designed, funded, and prioritized. Whether you’re on foot, on wheels, or behind the wheel, your safety and access matter.

Our mission is to provide clear, practical answers to the everyday challenges of urban travel. Whether you’re commuting, running errands, or working on the move, MO is here to support you with trusted guidance and community-rooted insight.

why MO

New York City’s streets are busy, complicated, and sometimes confusing—especially for people who walk, bike, or use small vehicles. But it’s not just the streets that are hard to figure out. Many people don’t have the information they need to get around confidently. This can be even harder for people with less physical ability, people who are new to this country, people who speak different languages, or people who are used to different street rules in other places. Every day, vulnerable road users—really, every one of us—face confusion, risk, and frustration just trying to move through the city.

Help exists, but it’s often hard to find, buried in bureaucracy, or difficult to navigate. ask_MO isn’t a silver bullet—but it’s a start. We believe there’s strength in community, and we’re here to help build its foundation with honest answers, shared stories, and collective action. That means surfacing patterns, amplifying voices, and equipping New Yorkers with the know-how, language, and support to demand safer, more sensible streets—together.

what we do with your submissions

  • We Listen. Every submission is carefully reviewed to help us understand what’s happening on our streets—what’s working, what’s not, and where people feel confident and where they feel confused.
  • We Respond. We provide tailored answers and resources to help you—whether that’s navigating traffic rules, understanding new infrastructure, or knowing who to contact when something is needed.
  • We Share with Purpose. We take what you share seriously, analyzing trends and concerns across submissions. These insights become powerful tools that can support neighborhood and merchant associations, community boards, business improvement districts, and local transportation agencies, when they’re ready to act. Your voice helps shape the data that drives change.
  • We Adapt. Your submissions help us keep our traffic education programs—built over the past 10 years—relevant and rooted in real street experiences. We use what is shared to improve and update our resources so they better serve everyday New Yorkers and the transportation educators who support them.

We never share your name or personal details without your permission. Your stories help build better streets for everyone.
